Just a little sumthin sumthin :)

I needed a turkey, and not the kind you eat either.  I don't really have any other decorations to transition between Halloween and Christmas with  besides all my pumpkins.  I need some turkeys.  Problem is I don't have any turkeys.

Should I run out and buy some turkeys?

Naaahhhhh

Lets make a turkey!

I have seen some really cute Thanksgiving type turkey decor around blogland.  I have also seen some super cute silhouettes of kiddos out there.  This got me thinking.  Turkeys, kiddos, turkeys, kiddos..... Aha!!!! Since kiddos can be turkeys sometimes, I will make a silhouette of a turkey!!!

Ok, I know I have completely lost my mind, but stay with me here.

First find a super simple looking clipart of a turkey and print him out.  Then glue that to some black scrapbook paper and cut him out.

Flip him over....

Then gather up some other random fall looking items.  Like scrapbook paper, ribbons, leaves (that you have a bazillion left of, that you bought at the Dollar Tree), oh and a frame.  Maybe  you have one laying around the house like I did, that you broke the glass out of on accident.  :)

Then I cut the scrapbook paper out to fit the frame, 5 x 7.

Next cut the ribbon to fit the paper.

I actually cut it a little longer than the paper and wrapped it to the other side and glued it to the back, like this.....

Now you can take some leaves, I only did three and glue them to the ribbon and paper.

Next glue the turkey down and put in the frame....

And Voila!!! Instant turkey art!!!!!

So what cha think???????

If you don't like it, lie to me.  This is the first REAL crafty idea, I can remember having were I sorta thought of it myself.  So don't rain on my parade.  :)

I'm in need of a craft room also- you know how people buy memberships to a gym - maybe you could sell them for your craft room! Your turkey picture really is cute!

I do like it. Simple and fun. I never got around to decorating for Halloween so I think I'll skip Thanksgiving and just try to get going for Christmas.

This is very cute! And in response to your comment about the ornaments...I had the worst time trying to find diamond glaze around here too. So I ordered it from Joann.com.

I LOVE IT !!!

I was looking for something transitional for the dining table (which is a bugger this time of year here, cause Christmas decorations start 1 day after Halloween is over.. aka no "fallish" stuff anywhere).

It took me forever to find something and I'm not very crafty these days...

Found some fab & different dried "flowers". I'm really happy with the way my flower arranging turned out.

However.. I may just steal your idea for other seasonal requirements :D

That is one fabulous idea!!! And, it could be adapted to ANY holiday: santa or an elf at Christmas, cupid at Valentines day, leprechaun for St. Pat's day, bunny for easter, Uncle Sam for patriotic holidays, etc.

I'm thinking I'll be stealing your idea...
