FREEDOM

Last night was our 2nd annual Freedom Celebration in our hometown. It was a wonderful night with great weather and lots of people, fun, and food.

FREEDOM039

There are local acts that perform, and normally a big Christian Band is there. This year "NewSong" Performed. They did a great job.

I just thought this was a really cool picture so I am showing it to you. :)

FREEDOM054

Then we had this awesomely big firework show! The fireworks were so big that we had to sit behind a "fallout zone".

Notice that last one has a smiley face. :)

Remember that "fallout zone" I mentioned a minute ago. Well apparently it was not big enough. While we are watching the fireworks, I felt something hit my leg. I thought a friend of mine that was sitting behind me, was trying to get my attention. Well she wasn't so I looked around, because something or someone hit my leg. I look down and see something, so I pick it up and it is the remains of a firework, about as big as my hand. Then we are continuing to watch when all the sudden one of the fireworks does not go out before hitting the ground. It was a scary scary thing to see. It sort of looked like this.

070810_meteor_shower

I did not get a picture of it coming down, because I was in shock for a moment. When it all landed I did get a picture of this.

FREEDOM112_edited

That would be fire, in the middle of a lot of people, in the grass.

The fireworks continued with one more scary moment right after that in front of us. This resulted in a freaked out Little Logan.

They finished up with some spectacular fireworks.

FREEDOM123

FREEDOM125 FREEDOM129

As we were packing up to leave after all the excitement was over, out of nowhere here comes another piece of red hot firework. Can you guess where it landed?

On Logan's head!!! Now he was really freaked out. It did not burn him, but I think he might be a little leary of another firework show after this.

It was still a pretty good evening despite the few firework mishaps. God was certainly there protecting us all as we celebrated the freedom that we enjoy in this country and as we honored those who serve and have served to allow us to keep that freedom.

FRO ME TO YOU - BROTHER AND SISTERS

I have told you all about the fact that there are six of us. I know, I know your thinking how can this world possibly handle more people like me. Well just to make you feel better, I am the weird one of the bunch, the rest of them are pretty normal. Well there is Lisa, but that's another story. :) I'm kidding people, I am the weird one, I think I always have been.

This is a picture that we had taken several years ago to give to our daddy.

From top left to right: Deta, Robin, Jan

From bottom left to right: Lisa, David, and yours truly

allofus

See we look pretty normal.

This past weekend we had a family reunion and we were all there. It is an amazing accomplishment to get us all there at the same time. So in honor of this very momentous occasion, we had our picture made again.

Ta-Da!!!!

Oh wait, Lisa is not in this picture!! Jan and Robin are looking at me like I have lost my mind. My brother David looks like just take the picture already. I think Deta was probably telling Lisa to hurry up and get in the picture.

us3

Ok here she comes. I am still striking a pose! :)

Finally we get the picture. :)

I just love my family! I am so very thankful that I was born into this one. I think God knew they were the only ones that could put up with me. :o)

For more pictures of family and fun go visit Kristen at We are THAT Family. Ya know I think that's why I like her so much, because we are THAT family also.

HAPPY FEET

When we got to the penguin exhibit at the aquarium it felt so weird.

penguin3

I felt like I had stepped onto the set of Happy Feet.  If Happy Feet were to have a set, ya know cause it is a computer animated film.  So I guess the set would actually be someone's office somewhere.  Anywhoooo this is what it felt like.

I wanted to put up another video featuring this guy, but nope I could not find one.

So after hours of searching, my computer freezing up and just work in general, this is what I felt like.  Enjoy!!  :)

EXCUSE ME???

What do you mean you don't know what a tractor pull is???

This is a real question folks.  A friend of mine who shall remain nameless, told me she did not know what a tractor pull was.

I had to work at our annual tractor pull this last Friday night, and when I told her what I was doing she just looked at me and said "What's a tractor pull?"

I was in complete shock!  She was raised in the south and did not know what one was!  Are there others like her out there??  Who have grown up in the south, but have missed some of the things that I thought were just common knowledge?

For those of you who do not know what a tractor pull is, (and I can not believe you don't know what one is) let me explain.

Tractor pulling, also known as power pulling, is a competition using tractors to pull a heavy sled along a 'track' and is very popular in rural areas. Usually the sled offers progressively greater resistance as it is pulled. It can be a great spectacle, and although the vehicle produces a great deal of noise and smoke and throws dirt everywhere, it doesn't actually travel very far. There are many different classes, from 'factory' tractors to custom built vehicles with multiple engines.

(taken from your friendly wikipedia)

You see the part that says "in rural areas", that is where I am.  I like to call it the boonies sometimes.  People who have to find my house like to say that I live out in the boonies.

This is quite a big event in our area.  People come from all over to these things.  People save up for months to come to these things.  People come out of the woodwork to come to these things.  Or in other words if your into people watching this is the place to be.

TP

Speaking of people watching this guy caught me so off guard that I could not get the picture taken quick enough.

MULLETT

I believe he had the best mullet that I have seen in a very very very long time.

So I had to work the Pork Chop and Steak sandwich stand. (boy I do believe I am making myself sound more country the more I type) Syd and one of her friends helped me out with this.

SYDTC2

That is until they got distracted by the grilled corn on the cob.  Let me tell you that is some good stuff.

SYDCORN

STC

I sent Syd to go out and get some pictures of the tractors pulling the sled's, but she didn't get the best quality pictures.  I was able to get a few of them to show up just so you could see some of the tractors.

TRACTOR2

These are not your ordinary farm tractors!!

TRACTOR3

TRACTOR4

The sound that these things can make is deafening.  You can hear them pulling from miles away.  If you are at an event its a good idea to wear earplugs they are so loud.  If you are talking to someone while a tractor is pulling, you can yell as loud as you want, but they probably will not be able to understand you, even if you are right next to them.  The sound will literally vibrate your insides.  Its really awesome!!

You do have different classes that pull, and one of them is a truck class.  This of course is where trucks pull the sleds.  Here are few pictures of those bad boys!

DOGHOUSE

THUNDERSTRUCK

POPTART

This truck was Syd's favorite!  :)

So I want to know, have you been to a tractor pull?

Do you know what I am talking about?

If you have been to one, what's your favorite part?

Do you think I am a big hick now? (cause I a really am)

If you have a tractor pull coming to your area, I suggest you make a stop by there to see what it is all about.  If you have young boys, they will love it !!  You might just love it, you might just hate it.  One thing is for sure though, you probably wont ever forget it.

I SAW SOME MOVIE STARS!!!

Yep I sure did!!! The Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga is full of stars!!

I met pretty much the whole cast from Finding Nemo!

Jennifer guess who the first one I met was?? Yep I met Dory and she was swimming with sharks. I actually got to pet the shark, but not Dory. She kept swimming away like she was looking for someone.

doryshark

Then I got to meet Bruce!! I was so excited, but he was a little bit intimidating.

shark

Remember fish are friends not food! (Unless your tilapia or Mahi mahi and then all bets are off. Oh and fish sticks, catfish, crappie, and yellow fin tuna. Can't they be our friends and food?)

A little while later Syd started yelling at me, "Momma, Momma look its squishy!"

And there he was in all his squishiness.

squishy

Then we rounded the corner and guess who we saw again? Dory!

Yep she was all over the place. She finally stopped and asked for directions.

DORY2

We rounded the corner and there he was!!!! Nemo himself!!!! Oh we were sooooooo excited!!! He looked a little irritated though. He kept swimming away from us, so thats why the picture is so fuzzy.

swimming

We also got to meet some of his former tank buddies. You all remember Gill don't you?

gill

And this guy was just overly excited about the bubbles.

BUBBLES

I think my favorite one to see was Crash. Dude he is just so so cool!!

crash

It was such an awesome experience getting to met all these wonderful actors. We met a couple of others there also, but I will put that post up later.

I think I will go home and watch this movie again. Its like my favorite movie, well except all three Pirates of the Caribbean. I mean hellooooo, Nemo or Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp!! Its a pretty hard decision.
