FIGHTING THE FRUMP SOME MORE :)

fightfrumpbutton

Hey y'all, I am back fighting the frump after a small absence.   It seems I got into a Fashion Frump Brain Fog, and sorta ran out of stuff to fight about.  I didn't want to just keep repeating myself.   Every Thursday evening and Friday, I would think what can I write about that is fashion forward, fashion yet simple, fashion yet easy, and maybe fashion yet cheap.  For the past several Thursday evenings and Fridays I have sat here with nothing, NOTHING I tell you.  That is until about a week ago.

It all started while I was at Wally World.  I was perusing the cosmetics isle looking for some make-up to wear while at the beach.  Its hot at the beach and I didn't want my make-up to melt off the minute I put it on and walked out the door.   So I looked at some of the mineral makeup they have there at the old Wally World.  I had tried a couple before and to tell you the truth, they were ok.  I am funny though, and  the thing I did not like about them, was the brush.  The bristles stuck me in the face and it hurt.  I know I am weird.

I decided I would go with this.......

almay

Almay Pure Blends

Now I wasn't to sure about it at first, in fact I put it down twice before I finally decided to get it.  To my surprise, I really like it.  It goes on easy.  You just pump that little button at the bottom and then brush it all over your face.   I put my concealer on and blend it in and then swirl this on my face, and I am done.  You want to know the best part?  It actually looks like I have makeup on and not just powder, which is what I was afraid of.

So on a scale of 1 -10

Ease of use - 10

Cost - 8  ( It was about $12, not to bad, but free would be better.  I'm just sayin, cause it would.  I know I won't be getting it for free.)

Portability - 10 ++

Mess - 0 (There isn't a mess!)

Bristle softness - 10 :)

So I'm not saying you have to run out and buy this, but if your looking for something like this to try, I would go ahead and pick it up.

FRO ME TO YOU - MIRROR IMAGES

frolink1

You now what?  I missed y'all last week.  I really, really did.  Even thought I was at the beach and soaking up what sun I could get, I missed you.

So it is good to be back here at the ole Fro Me To You bloggy carnival.

This week I want to introduce you to Big Logan and his Sister Gina, back in the day. ( I so hope Gina doesn't get me for this)  I also want to show you how much Little Logan and Gina's daughter Charis look like there parents.

Here is a nice family shot of my Hubby and his family way back when.

Don't you just love Gina's pink outfit and Logan's little suit vest.    :)

scan0001

Ok, I am sorry but do y'all see what I see?  I see a good resemblance in a certain Pioneer Woman and my MIL.

Here is another picture of Logan and Gina...

scan0002

Aren't  they cute!!!  Look at that smile, look at those curls!

Ok now lets look at some pictures of Little Logan and Charis together.

This just shows the mischief my husband has in him and the mischief he passed down to our son.  They are most definitely like Father, like son.    :)

I have more pictures of where they look so much a like, but I think you get the picture.  :)

They even used the left over icing that they had been eating straight from the container over the last few days.  Wasn't that nice of them!  Very thrifty children.  ;)

GOD WORKING THROUGH BLOGS

You know what?  I have had a crappy, crappy day today.  There is just so much going on and I don't even know what to say about it.  I probably wont say much, because A: its to exhausting to talk about and think about, and B: I don't want to say something that might make someone upset, or cause drama.

All that said, God works through blogs.  I have made some wonderful friends that I can confide in, and it also seemed that today several of the blogs I read were just what I needed to read.  I am so very thankful for all of you!  You help to keep me going.

Jennifer is a very dear friend and I thank God for her that I can e.mail her and just talk to her and I know she will have some sort of insight or wisdom for me.

The following blogs all had what I like to say was a word from God.  All of the post I read from them seem to talk to me today.  They reassured an unsure soul.

The Park Wife

P.S. He loves you

Dawn Writes

We are THAT Family

June Cleaver Nirvana - She made me laugh when I needed to laugh!

You have all in some way made my day better today.  These are just a few of the many.

You have made me remember that when I am down, God will lift me up.  You have helped remind me of the important things in life.  You have reminded me to praise Him.  You have reminded me that He is in all things and the He is in control. You have made me laugh when I needed it the most.

Thank You, I can truly say that I am so very glad to have my blog friends.  I am so happy that I started this whole blog thing.  It has added a new dimension to my life.  :)

HONEY, I'M HOME!!!!!!!!

Finally after awful traffic in Birmingham, we have made it home.  Well actually we made it home last night at about 7:00.   Today I have done absolutely nothing.  I hate it when you go on "vacation" and then you are so exhausted after you get home, that you need another vacation.   Its also really hard to go on "vacation" when you are at a softball tournament.  I know, I know, I have heard you all say it, "but your at the beach".   Now I love softball, and I love the beach, so you think it would be a match made in heaven.  Well, let me tell you its not all its cracked up to be.

Softball games cut into your beach time.  Its like torture sometimes.  You may be lucky and get your first games done and out of the way and then get a couple of days off, or you might have them spread sporadically through out the week.  We were the winner of option number two.  So we never did get many days off with out a game.  To be exact we had two days off with out games.  Sunday before the tournament started and then Friday after we were put out of the tournament.  So it is a lot of rushing around trying to fit in the fun into short time frames.

You see I am not complaining.  I really had a good time.  I loved hanging out with all my friends from the ball team.  The girls had a great time hanging out with each other.  I just wish I had more beach time.   My favorite thing is going to the beach and sitting at the edge of the water in my chair and just sitting.  I did not get enough of that.  I can not wait to go back when I don't have a tournament.  Out of the last 5 beach trips, only one has not involved a softball tournament.  So I am already in the process of planning another one. :)

Ok on to other matters.  I want you to know I love you all and I thank you all for staying with me in my sporadic vacation post.  I did not get a lot of opportunity to read many of your post.  I am actually a bit overwhelmed in my reader at the moment.  I have about 418 post that I have not read, and I don't think I will be able to get to them.  So I am going to hit the mark as read button and start over.  Please forgive me if I don't comment on a post, I am trying to get back into the swing of things.

Guess What????  We have new residents at our house!  Let me introduce you to some new little friends we brought back.

We don't have a name for her yet.   Little Logan is supposed to name her, but has not come up with anything yet.  So what do y'all think are some good names for her?   We already have, Mylie, Rose (which is her mama), Ellie Mae, and Fatty.  Then the donkeys are Reloy, Jenny, Charlie, Lilly, and Star.  Then there is flop the duck.  So go ahead and throw out some names.  I don't know if any of your names will be picked, but I thought it would be neat to hear what you come up with.

PAY ATTENTION DO NOT IGNORE!

Beach Lesson 101:

When you see this.....

DSC_0135

It means do not go into the water.  No swimming, dangerous water, under tow, strong current, rip tide....if you go in this might happen.

DSC_0100_edited

You might need to get rescued.  :(

Three people got caught up in the rip tide and were pulled out into the ocean.

We saw the helicopter go by.  They were hovering over them and then they started dropping out the life preservers.

Then the jet ski, and the trucks started racing down the beach.

DSC_0102_edited

DSC_0103

DSC_0104_edited

When the jet ski got there they started throwing out life jackets.  Then they got the people on the jet ski and he brought them to the beach.

DSC_0108_edited

DSC_0124_edited

From what I can gather, I believe these people are ok, and did not have to be hospitalized.  Unfortunately someone else drowned in the waters in another part of the beach and four others were hospitalized.

Its amazing the number of people who ignored the flags and got into the surf.

Even today the double red flags were out and people were still going on out there.  So if you are going to the beach just remember to be careful and pay attention to the flags .

HI THERE PEOPLE!!!!!!

So I am here at the beach (you can hate me if you want). We have had some great weather, and won our first ball game, so all is good for now. I thought I would share a few pictures that Deta has taken, because I am a a slacker and have not uploaded any pictures yet (I bloglifted them from her blog). Plus she takes better pictures than me. :)

FRO ME TO YOU - STILL CAN'T WORK THOSE THINGS!

Why I was even trying is beyond me.  I was trying though.  Look at the concentration on my face.

scan

This was taken at my Aunts house probably about 1987.  My goodness over 20 years ago!  So I was probably about 14.  I was trying hard to make that thing work.  Sad to say though, I probably didn't do it right then, because I still can't do that thing today.  :)

There are other questions and comments I have about this picture though.

a) Why was there a kiddie pool in the living room?

b) Why did we think white jazz shoes were appropriate back then.

c) Who was the genius who decided to make not only tapered, ankle length pants, but tapered, pleated, ankle length pants.

d) I loved that sweater.  I don't know why.  I remember it now and think no way would I wear that.  It was about two sizes to big (the style I guess), and you can't see it in this picture, but instead of having a "V" in the front, it was in the back.  I thought I was looking good.  :)

I am going to have to go get some more pictures from my Momma's house.  I think I am running out of the really good ones that I have.

Now move along there is nothing else to see here.  Go over to Kristen's and visit  the other great Fro Me to you's over there.

Buh Bye now!!!  Y'all come back now ya here!

THANK YOU ALL & GUESS WHAT SHE DID!

I just wanted to say thank you for letting me have my mini melt down.  :)  One thing I noticed is that some of you might need to vent also.  Maybe I need to start a Venting with Valarie Day.  You know, don't mention any names, and don't gossip, or be ugly about anyone.  Just a place to maybe scream or let of some steam.  I don't know that probably would not work, even though I know I felt a little better after doing it.

If you need to vent I will be there for you, but if you tend to be acting  ugly in your venting I am gonna send you to someone else to vent to.  :)  (Right now I want to vent about my computer running extremely slow!)

Now onto something that happened the other day, that I have been needing to blog about.  This is gonna cause a lot of mixed feelings around here.

It all happened on July 8, 2008.  The day she became an "Adult" (please take note that it is in quotations.  I am being very sarcastic about that).

It was a lovely day, just beautiful outside.  Warm, but not to hot, a slight breeze in the air, with striking blue skies.

All she could think about when she woke up that morning was this one particular thing.  She had been wanting this for awhile, I would not let her do it.  Now that she was 18 the time had come.  The time when she could sign her own papers to get the dreaded........NOSE PIERCING!!!!!!

Here she is filling out her own paperwork. (I would not sign for her to get this done, but I did want to be there when she did it.  Hey, I need stuff to blog about.)  :)

DSC_0421

She is so grown up, don't ya think?  (again sarcasm)

Here she is in the chair....

DSC_0423

Here she is looking a little nervous.......

DSC_0425

Please note before going to the next pictures, this is not for the weak of stomach.

If you do not like needles, pain, and torture devices do not go any further!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

First they prepare the area with something, I don't really remember what they put here, hopefully some antiseptic of some sort to ward of infection!

DSC_0428

What's wrong Jess?  It looks like your going to the dentist.  I guess they put the bib on you in case you were to bleed. :)

DSC_0430

Here we go... we take the pincher things and clamp the side of your nose......

DSC_0432

Then we pull the heck out of your nose and stick about a 3 inch needle into the prepared spot.....  Can I just say Oooowwwww!!! right here....

DSC_0433

Please note that I spared you all the one picture Jessie said I should have gotten.  The needle actually sticking thru her nose.  I was to horrified to snap the picture.  I was in shock actually.

"Hey its not that bad I really didn't feel anything!"

DSC_0435

All done!!

DSC_0437

So here it is like 5 minutes later.  The ink was still on there and everything so it doesn't look as good as it could I guess.

DSC_0439

Here she is  Ms. I am 18 now,and I got my nose pierced, and I signed for it my self.

(say that like you are singing the Ms. America thing)

DSC_0446

Jessie, I love you very much!  I only hope that one day when you decide that you don't want that in your nose anymore, that the hole will grow up.   :)

Love your Mother xoxoxox
