FRO ME TO YOU - STILL CAN'T WORK THOSE THINGS!

Why I was even trying is beyond me.  I was trying though.  Look at the concentration on my face.

scan

This was taken at my Aunts house probably about 1987.  My goodness over 20 years ago!  So I was probably about 14.  I was trying hard to make that thing work.  Sad to say though, I probably didn't do it right then, because I still can't do that thing today.  :)

There are other questions and comments I have about this picture though.

a) Why was there a kiddie pool in the living room?

b) Why did we think white jazz shoes were appropriate back then.

c) Who was the genius who decided to make not only tapered, ankle length pants, but tapered, pleated, ankle length pants.

d) I loved that sweater.  I don't know why.  I remember it now and think no way would I wear that.  It was about two sizes to big (the style I guess), and you can't see it in this picture, but instead of having a "V" in the front, it was in the back.  I thought I was looking good.  :)

I am going to have to go get some more pictures from my Momma's house.  I think I am running out of the really good ones that I have.

Now move along there is nothing else to see here.  Go over to Kristen's and visit  the other great Fro Me to you's over there.

Buh Bye now!!!  Y'all come back now ya here!

e) Why is the coffee table against the wall? (Probably to make room for the kiddie pool)my MIL had a coffee table like this.

Ok, V neck sweater was the hottest thing sold at the Limited. I wrote this on my blog once:

One time mom and I were in The Limited. I wanted the vee neck sweater so bad. Do you remember these? This was the 80's. We would wear them backwards so the vee was in the back. Well, they were like $30.00 which was like $60.00 in today's money. Mom said,"We can go to K-mart and get the same thing for a lot less money." Can you believe the nerve of the woman? Everyone in THE WHOLE MALL heard her and I couldn't show my face there for 5 years.

It would be easier to do the paddle ball if you stood up- but then you would be light headed b/c of the tapered legs cutting off your circulation and you have to try to avoid the pleated pooch at your waist. At least we all looked rediculous together.

BTW- if you go buy another paddle ball you could tear off the ball and spank Jess for the nose ring!

Hey I loved those jeans with keds w/out shoe laces?! But a pool in the living room now that's just rich!

Pool in the living room...Well you are wearing what seems to be something other than summer attire. So maybe....they were letting the little ones swim in the living room during the winter time?? ; )

It was just a thought!

You were the height of fashion for 1987! I'm laughing so hard at Southerner's K Mart comment. I remember when shopping at K Mart was perhaps the MOST embarrassing thing that a kid could be accused of.

I cant work a paddle-ball thing either.

Yeah, why WAS that pool in the living room?

and those totally look like Keds. Remember how you weren't cool unless you had the little blue KEDS square on the back of your shoes??

Those jeans are just a classic! Love it.

Oh, the back V - I remember it and loved it!

You do look like you are concentrating hard on that!

I have plenty of photos of me in those lovely pants with the knock off keds (we colored a blue tag to make me look real). Yep we were all stylin... Although I still don't know what we were thinking.

You are so right about pleated tapered jeans, they make NO ONE look good. Although you don't look bad in the photo...but there are much more flattering styles of jeans (yay!).

Pool in the living room? And why with the looks of your sweater it was winter-maybe that's why in was inside! My mom used to threaten to take the ball and string off and paddle us with it. Never happened!!

Those are some good questions! You will probably uncover the meaning of life if you find the answers.

I just spent an hour in a blazing hot attic at my Momma's house, looking for old photos.

It was worth it.

You'll see :D

OMGosh!!!!I am looking at what appears to be Syd. Can it be Sydney wearing those hot looking jeans and shoes. This was great.

Wow, That takes me back. I had a pain of those jeans too, but I was in my 20's in 1987. I might still have them packed in a box somewhere. I should probably toss them out. If I did ever fit back into that size, I surely wont want to wear that style again. Ha!

LOL, can you believe keds are coming back?

I really want to know about the baby pool in the house. That has to be a good story, surely.

Very good and VERY valid questions.

I mastered the ball and paddle at summer camp one year, I do remember that.

What was it about those shoes?! I had them too!

THe sweater was a FORENZA purchased at the Limited Express. The shoes were KEDS, unless they were knock offs :( , the pool was for all her pets ( probably cats ) to drink from while she went on vacation with the church's senior group, and yes the toy was a weapon used by my Mother too many times.

I love it when you do one of these posts. I'm always reminded of something I'd forgotten from my high school days. I thought I was something in my backwards v-neck sweater too.

I know I can't believe I wore those clothes in the 80's! I remember those sweaters well.

But..did you have leg warmers or thick scrunchy socks to go with those tapered jeans and white keds??

I can't stop laughing about the kiddie pool in the living room. I can't seem to get past that to notice anything else in the picture...
