Our last stop Saturday for yard sales was in Mentone, AL. Now that is a neat little town. I don't think I really knew anything about that place. They have this big pavilion where they were playing live music. The atmosphere was very unique. A blend of artsy, folk, and down home country all in one. The landscape was absolutely gorgeous.
This is an antique store. We walked all the way up the hill to go in there, and they closed right as we got up there. Talk about a bummer.
They still were selling some weird creatures there though.
Some people were also trying to give away some cute little critters.
Bless her heart she wanted to go home with one of us, but none of us could take her or her brothers and sisters. (The little one there with the patches on her face. She was spoken for)
When we left there we headed east. This was not the best idea we had since we needed to go west. So when we got to Georgia (it was only about 15 minutes away) we turned around and head back to Alabama. We turned and headed toward Ft. Payne. When we got into Ft. Payne, we came across this restaurant called JT's. It seemed like a pretty cute local place. So Donna and Terry went in to see if we should make a go of it.
About a minute later they came back around to the truck laughing hysterically (I think it was the lack of food). They told us we had to come see something and that we were going in. This is what we saw.........
Now I know your thinking "What's so funny about chicken wings and frog legs". Well let me show you........
A frog with no legs, and a chicken with no wings. There was also a picture of a cow and pig running for their lives.
Once we got in there, guess what we find out? We find out that it is karaoke night! Yea fun! (I am being sarcastic here) We sit through some good ones and a bunch of not so good ones. I think Mr. John sung the most. He was up there everytime someone put the microphone down.
Well we were tired and ready to go home, but we couldn't leave. Terry would not let us leave until Heather got up there to sing. Heather was not going to sing unless someone got up there with her. Guess who had to go up there.
So after lots of begging, (me begging them not to make us do it) and pleading (me pleading we needed to go home) I finally gave in and we got up there to sing.
Me giving the "your gonna pay for this look" and Heather getting ready to see the lyrics.
Me and Heather taking deep breaths in so we don't throw up on stage.
By the way if I had of known I would be singing Carrie Underwood's "Before he cheats" I would have dressed more appropriately. My camera added about 20 million pounds to me and the sweatshirt didn't help either. It was cold in there and I was tired and at this point I did not care.
We sang our song and made it out of there with the people telling us we were leaving to soon, we needed to sing some more. Sorry folks, Valarie and Heather have left the building.
Finally we made it back home and unloaded our stuff. Can you believe we fit both of those wicker things and that big trunk in the back of a Suburban that had all three rows of seats up?
Come back soon when I will hopefully be showing the makeovers of my treasures. :)

Sorry I missed out on the singing. That would have been fun :)
I admire your self-control! All that great stuff AND puppies? Too much to handle :-).
Ahem. Karaoke?! Wow, much braver than I...I mean it's one thing to be in my own living room with my 7 year old belting out High School Musical on the Wii, but totally another in public.
Way to go!
What a fun post! I just love yard sale shopping and the treasures you can find. What a blast!
I love the puppies! Too cute!
Blessings!

I am having major difficulty with seeing yall in sweatshirts! It is like 1000 degrees. Is that how you stay so tiny- wrap yourself so much you sweat off every ounce of food you put in your body and walk up hills to stores just to walk back down? At least you stayed upright this time on the hill, right? I have to tell everyone- you do look much heftier in the photo than you really are. When Valerie turns sideways she disappers, yall. She is really tiny. Don't let the photo in the sweatshirt fool ya. So, what did you eat?
I'm so impressed you fit all that in your car. AND, I LOVE the sign with the frog and the chicken. HILARIOUS.
GIIIRRRRLLL... what would stacy and clinton say about that sweatshirt?! haha!
PS. You want to come over early for my pre-sale? I will absolutely give discounts.
PPS. are you EVER gonna actually COME to bootcamp?
MAMA WANTS TO KNOW WHO WAS DRIVING WHEN YOU WENT TO GEORGIA? AND I LOVE TO GO TO MENTONE.
Puppies...Karaoke...yard sales! Whew, I'm exhausted!
Gosh those puppies are so cute!
I could never sing in front of anyone! Not even my husband or my mom!! I sing about like Barney Fiffe! I like to pretend I can sing when I'm alone.
Is still me, I just changed my profile pic!
STILL jealous. It didn't get any better, JEALOUS JEALOUS JEALOUS!!!
I think you look like a young co-ed in your sweatshirt and short. Cute!
I most especially aprove of this post because there are no dolls. Except for you ladies. Yall are non creepy dolls!

Isn't Mentone a neat place. I would have to agree with Holly...Sweatshirts? You've got to be kidding. The only thing that I can think of is you were on top of that mountain. Can't wait to see your finds.
