LECTURES

That is what I feel like I am going to get when I go to the dentist.

Today was that day.  Normally at the end of each visit its the same thing.  You need to floss more!!  I know, I know I need to floss more, but don't lecture me.  I normally floss regularly for a good month or so after I leave the dentist.  Then I slack off a bit.  Then when I get my notice its time for your next appointment, I pick it up again.  Sorry to all you regular flossers out there, but I am just telling you like it is.  I brush my teeth sometimes three times a day, I just forget to floss.

Anyway the lecture is usually you need to floss, your gums would not bleed during cleanings if you would floss more, yada yada yada. Do you want to know why my gums might bleed during cleanings. Do ya Do ya???  This is way.......

scaler

They are poking me and scraping this instrument of torture, this instrument of the devil across the flesh in my mouth.  Stabbing people stabbing!!!  What happens when you get stabbed??? YOU BLEED!!!!

By the way today, I bled, and I got no lecture on flossing.  They did however measure my gums for gum disease. I personally think its a new scare tactic for flossing since they have never done this before.  I am pleased to report, I did not have gum disease, or any cavities.  I will probably floss for the next month or so and then fall back into my old cycle.  Its just the way I am.

I am one of "those" people. I floss regularly. Sorry! My next dental appointment is at 8:30 tomorrow morning. Just for the record, when they stab me with that poking tool, my gums bleed too!

I feel your pain! I always fess up to not flossing regularly but I have a friend that uses another method. When asked if she flosses regularly, she always responds with an enthusiastic, "Can't you tell?!!" This puts the dentist in a tough spot because he wouldn't want to say "No" if she's been flossing regularly so he just responds with, "Keep up the good work!"

I hate the dentis as well.but it is better than the altertive, not going and not takeing care of your teeth.
I did not do so well when I was younger but now have a daily routine of flossing and takeing care of the teeth I have left. I also take good care of the particals that i have. That's my story and you can bet I'm sticking to it! big Time Hugs and God's love headed your way.
Note I'm way behind in my reading dut to the stay in the hospital. so I gotta run.take care my friend.

I'm witha sister! I'm not sure how flossing will help the areas that they scrape on my teeth, either. They scrape the FRONT of my teeth & then tell me to floss. Well I don't floss the front of my teeth, duh. And really, how is a piece of string supposed to get all of that stuff they scrape off? Anyway...I hear ya.

Thanks for saying how cute Israel is! He is super cute and super fun.

I always want to respond with "let me poke your gums with a sharp instrument and see if they bleed!"

I bleed some when they stab me with that thing too. How could one not?!!

I have just never been able to get into the whole flossing thing. BAD, I know. I'm trying to get better. I have had like one cavity in my life though, so my brushing seems to work...but I know I need to floss too.

Those little flosser things you can buy bags of? Those are cool! I like them so much better than normal flossing string. My boys find them easier to use too. Much more user friendly.

Every time my husband goes in he says "I'm ready for my semi-annual flossing" just to remind them that he doesnt floss and doesnt give a crap about it. Always makes me laugh.

PS. ALREADY missing you working out. And my food has been outta control. Must be something to do with YALL>

I totally get this lecture every time. My favorite was while I was pregnant they almost yelled at me about the flossing, but my gums were so sensitive that a slight breeze would make them bleed. Stop dog-piling the poor pregnant lady! Oh, and toothpaste made me nauseous so it was all around a fabulous experience.

Glad it turned out well for you...

I used to floss, like I was supposed to, but now I never can find anything. So I only floss a month before my appt. (I have to go buy new, because I can't find the old floss), so anyway, they think I floss all the time so I get away with it, and I walk out with a smirk! Did I just blow my cover?

Well, the grossest thing that my dentist ever said to me was, "take the last bite out of your mouth and stick it on the table to dry out. that's what not flossing does to your teeth".

Nice visual, man.....and icky to boot. I still floss when the mood strikes.

I DESPISE the dentist. Despise.

I had a root canal last week and Monday, I spent 3 hours in the chair getting 2 crowns and impressions for a bridge! Loved every minute of it (joking)!

Just looking at that scrapy pokey thing makes me cringe. I'm a part time flosser as well. I floss for a good two weeks to a month after all dentist appointments and then I do it maybe once a month. I'm terrible.

I left a present for you at my blog last week, btw. http://slackermomof3.blogspot.com/2008/06/id-like-to-thank-academy.html
