And it continues...

DSC_0789

Today is the first day of our softball season!  To say that I am excited it an understatement.  Yet with that excitement comes some wonderful memories and anticipation for the future.  You see last year was Jessie's last year for softball.  Gosh I am getting teary eyed again just thinking about it.  She has been playing softball since she was five, and I had a harder time letting go last year than she did.

Now the legacy will continue.

See Jessie and Sydney are four years apart, which means Jessie graduated last year, and Syd started to the high school this year.  So we are starting all over with high school softball with Syd this year.  Like she did in middle school, she has taken her sisters number.  Maybe I wont cry tonight.

This is the look I always get when I take her picture while she is playing ball. :)

Don't believe me?? Let me show you....

Last night I came home to hear Syd complaining.  She was complaining about all the stains, Jessie had left on the uniform.  :)

I think when Syd graduates I am asking for the uniforms.  They can just retire their number.

Ok I have to stop writing this now before I start crying my eyes out at work.

Sizzling Summer

sizzle copy

Since we went to an "all year round" school year, our summers have been extremely to short.  If you have kids that are involved in school sports, or band your summer is even shorter.  Normally one of the two months is filled with camp, clinics, and ball games.  Then when you add in Vacation Bible School, and Church camp, you might get a good three weeks to go anywhere.  So you take what chances you get to do anything.

Syd was on a traveling softball team, so most of our weekends were spent at a ballpark.  At one point this summer we went to a ball tournament (Saturday & Sunday), came home packed went to church camp, came home from camp the following Saturday, had a week off, had softball tournament Friday & Saturday, and then that Sunday Syd left for Orlando for a Leadership conference for church for another week.  It got pretty hectic there for a while.

In July we were able to go to the beach, but with a catch.  We had a softball tournament.  :)  Let me say this again, softball tournaments at the beach are exactly the same as a tournament in your own town.  Softball fields are softball fields!  Some just look a little prettier than others.  Oh and you can't see the beach at the tournament, actually part of your games aren't anywhere near the beach.  They are sometimes about 45 minutes away.  All that to say, you have limited beach time.

DSC_0014

Here is Syd on the phone (whats new) looking at the beach, but about to leave for a ball game.

We did have a pretty good time though while we were there.  We didn't do a lot of tourist attractions this year.  We choose to go to the beach every opportunity we could.  My sister Deta did get to take some good pictures of Syd and Logan while we were down there.

We actually did this one shoot, where we "trashed" a dress.  Well actually two dresses.  Syd and I had our picture made together all in white.  Then when the shoot was over, we walked into the ocean with our white dresses on.  Just a note for future reference, don't go into the ocean with a  white dress on.  It becomes invisible.  This is a family blog so I can't put those pictures up here.  Like I would do that anyway.

You may be wondering where is Jessie during all this?  Well, a funny thing happens when you graduate from high school and start working an almost full time job.  You don't just "get" a vacation anymore.  So you don't get to go on the family vacations like you used to.  It's awful growing up.

Just a reminder to all of you down on the gulf or going to the gulf.  With Gustav coming watch the flags if they say this.....

and you go ahead and get into the water, this might happen.

You might have to be rescued from the water.

So all in all we had a good time this summer.  Busy, but fun.  We are hoping to go back to the beach this fall.  Maybe it will be a slower paced trip than this last one.

HOME

Well we are back from playing softball again. Yippee :o)

I changed my password, I really did. I did not ask for it to remember me, but guess what my computer did? You guessed it, it remembered me. Lucky me...

Please disregard anything you might have read over at my about me. Some little darling angel took it upon herself, AGAIN to change things up.

Well we had an eventful time in Georgia. We went there to play softball of course, but ended up having to play the umpires. Now if anyone has every followed any sport, you know that sometimes you can get a bad umpire. Well we got one today. When you swing a bat and it crosses the plate and both umpires call it a ball, you know you are in trouble. So after playing for about 45 minutes, and getting no calls whatsoever, we just left. We packed up our stuff and walked off the field. It just was not worth fighting with the umps. Sometimes it happens, you just get bad umpires. I have never in my life seen one this bad.

Anyway when we left we decided to make a little stop at the Tennessee Aquarium on the way home. We had a much better time there and pictures will be coming shortly.

I hope you all have been having a great weekend. I am now off to go do laundry, unpack the car and suitcases, and then repack the car and suitcases to go with Syd to church camp this week. Be praying that my house will be intact when I get home. (The Logan's and Jessie will be home, so I know nothing will get done)

WHAT I DO WITH MY WEEKENDS

You can all breath a big sigh of relief now. I am fine. I know you have all been thinking I fell off the face of the earth or something, but I have still been here.

Sometimes my weekends can get a little hectic to say the least. This weekend, I went to a softball tournament. Yes, I know it so exciting and I get to do this again this weekend.

Don't y'all want to go with me? Oh you can't go this weekend? Well that's ok we have at least FOUR MORE TOURNAMENTS this summer so you can meet up with me at one of those.

What you think four tournaments is not a big deal? Well lets just get some perspective on this. We have 10 weekends in our summer break. We have 7 tournaments that we are going to be in so that is 3 weekends off this summer. Ok, I will be over here crying if you need me.

This weekend we happen to be at park that has ALOT of air traffic. Southern 7 probably knows exactly which park I am talking about.

Apparently UPS planes come in on Saturday mornings. When I say planes I don't mean one or two, I mean like fifty or more.

Here is ONE of the many many planes that kept coming in.

We saw this all morning long.......

Yesterday we did not have to play ball, but I did have to decorate for VBS. I was so tired that this morning I slept through my workout, and not on purpose either, I just never woke up. I think I need a vacation.

Wait I get to go to Panama City Beach in July, I'll be on vacation then. Nope, Nope, never mind, we are going down there for a SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT!!!

Ok, I think I am better now. :)

WHAT DAY IS IT?

This is actually my Saturday / Sunday post. Since when I started it was Saturday , but now its Sunday. :)

Well I know you have all been wondering what I have been doing. So here is the run down.

Thursday: leave at 2:00 and go to Hoover for a softball game get home at around 10:30 that night

Friday leave at 3:45 go to Florence for a softball game get there about 5:30 and the bottom drops out. Wait around for about two hours to see if it slacks off. It doesn't, go home get there about 9:30 go to bed to get up at 6:30 am. Get a call about midnight we are not playing until 12:45.

Saturday: leave about 9:45 to get to Florence by 11:15. Finally get to play ball. Play ball all day in the wind ( I'm talking major wind gust. I think I have wind burn and there is red dirt in my ears and nose, yuck), and finish up about 9:00 at night. Get home about 10:45. Cook brownies for tomorrow today at Daddy's.

Y'all its 12:20 and I am pooped.

I have lots to talk about though. I have like four awards to tell y'all about. I won a contest, and I need to do a meme.

So I will get to all that either later on tonight, or on Monday.

Have a wonderful Sunday!!!! Y'all remember all the things you need to be thankful for!!!!

SOFTBALL SATURDAY!!!!

I know, I know y'all have all been patiently waiting to find out what I have been up to this weekend. Well wait no further.........

Friday was the start of another wonderful weekend of softball!!!! We had two games Friday night and then started Saturday day off with a game at 11:30 and needed to be at the field at 10:30. I drop Syd off at the gate so she can hurry and get on up there with her team mates, while I drive past her for a parking place. ( ok, ok I picked her back up and drove here the rest of the way)

Here are few pictures to show you the fun we had. :)

First it starts to sprinkle. Now not those little sprinkles, its the onces that when one drop hits your head it runs down your head.

Here is my wonderful friend Melinda trying to stay out of the rain.

Here the girls try to take some shelter from the sprinkles. You know they are made of sugar and they will melt if they get to wet. The precious darlings.

Hey Syd and Haley are y'all shooting birds at people. No? Thats just some hand shake y'all are doing? The Spiderman Dance? Well alrighty then. :/

So we go to the dugout because its time to play ball!!
( they are so excited :} )

But guess what happens.................

The sprinkles turn to this..............

So the girls just hung out waiting for the rain to stop.

Well it keeps raining and raining and raining and raining and raining, oh sorry you want me to stop now. Just trying to put you in the moment.

(Syd and BF Jess)

Syd "washing" her hands

So Coach H. went to find out what was going on. Are we delaying, are we cancelling, are we about to get struck by lighting?

Verdict we are playing as soon as this passes they are gonna get the fields ready.

Doesn't she look excited?

So we are playing when they get this cleaned up? Yeah right!

So we wait....

And do hair (ya know cause we are girls)......

We say there is a moose on the other side of the ballfield. See it a moose over by that tree behind the light pole. See it!!!!

I think Syd and Val (yep her name is Valerie also, but she spells it wrong) need to go have their eyes checked what do yall think?

Stay tuned for part two of a Saturday in Softball land.............................
