Moving on Up

I know you all have been wondering about my poor crazy turtle.    Anyway you will all be happy to know that they have a new home.  they are moving up in the world.  They are now out of their temporary housing situation seen here...

And they now live in a 20 gallon mansion, complete with heat lamp, filter,  floating sunning pad, rock tower, cave, and lots of rocks to dig through.

Speaking of moving on up.  Syd moved I kicked her out of her room and up into Jessie's room  with her.  (sisterly bonding) So what was I to do, but turn her room into my own personal craft, scrapbook, shut the door and get away from the chaos room.  :)

This is the closest that is storing all my stuff, the room itself is still a work in progress....I am just showing you the real thing.

Actually all that is sorta cleaned up now and I am making it my own.  I have big plans for this room, big plans.  I need your help though.  I need ideas on what color I should paint the room.  I mean as you can tell it is a bright and cheery hot pick.  There is also a bathroom off to the side that is neon, vibrant, "atomic vomit Jimmy Neutron" green.   I also need storage ideas, maybe some craft station ideas, basically organizing ideas.  I know I want to do the peg board thing, but that is about as far as I have gotten with my planning.  By the way this room is also the new home of the turtle's, and the hermit crab.  They are my roomies. (If they were not in here they would probably die, because no one else would care for them.)

I love the shot you got of the turtle swimming. Good catch!

Paint color - don't tell Sydney but I'm glad you are painting it. I don't really have any suggestions though. I'm pretty plain when it comes to colors.

Enjoy your new space & your new roomies!

I love your little turtles and their new abode...looks like fun to watch!

How exciting to have your own getaway room. Where stuff actually stays how you left it. Sigh...

Ohhh, I am so jealous! I wish I had my own room. Maybe one day, like when my kids go off to college?!

I am certainly no help when it comes to decorating. Sorry.

I am itching to do the same thing. But which kiddo I kick out? I like the pink paint, boy that'd put me in a good mood for sure. But if you really have to paint over it I love chocolate! I plan on buying one of those small tables from Lowes, like that we have in the choir room. They aren't very pretty but practical, for I am destructive. The wicker baskets are fun although, they are harder to find. I am cleaning out my closet and using those for storage. Walmart has the canvas baskets, they have clear places for labels. I used those in Beck'sroom. I really do love the pink! What about pink and chocolate? Big round chocolate circles. Okay enough... I'm done!

I bought a chrome shelving unit at Target for like 50 dollars. And I got some of those canvas bins in different cool colors for my scrapbooking stuff. I think the chrome gives it a pretty modern look. Paint? hmmmm... I always thought if I had my own scrapbooking room that I would go to the scrapbook store and take inspiration from the pretty scrapbook papers for painting the room.

Wanted to say thanks for the info on the "splitdecisionz" website. I've been reading it and learning from it. That was sweet of you to let me know.
In my guest room /craft room I purchased a 6 foot folding table and then made a skirt for it out of really pretty toile fabric. I then used stick on velcro to put it around the table. I hide my storage drawer/containers with my stamps and sewing/craft supplies under it. They fit perfectly under it.
When we have guest I clear off the top and it is a great place for suitcases.

I like the room color as is. If you wanted a change, I'd go with something as just as bold. Or maybe one bold accent wall with the others a lighter shade of the bold color. I'm a huge fan of that even though everyone I know is doing it.

Also, if "Mamma Mia" makes you want to go to Greece, then just wait until you see the "Sisterhood" movies. It will make your desire even worse! :-)

The last sentence about caring for the critters slayed me... I thought "And THAT is motherhood!"

I am a color NUT. No hot pinks or lime green for me but neutral just about suffocates me. So...

What about a non neon turquoise blue or aqua blue? You could pull in some lime green and not have to repaint the bathroom AND it looks Fabulous with white trim. Also that color looks really great with chocolate brown accents(and you could paint the bathroom tan and bring in some of the blue in towels and pics). AND that color looks AWESOME with black and white graphic prints! It is really such a versatile color it SHOULD BE the new beige. :)

Can't wait to see the finished product!!

I love that you kicked her daughter out of her room so you could have a craft room. Is she still speaking to you?! lol

Those turtles are living the sweet life, man. Awesome new digs! I think I need little turtles. They're so cute!! What kind of turtles are they?

The turtles look quite happy with their new home and I'm loving that you are getting a room of your own. I say go crazy with it. Make it as wild and girly as you want 'cause it's yours... and the turtles!

Go turtles way bigger place!
As for decorating I am a true believer that every room need something black. You can class up a space with your favorite shade and a splash of black. Wicker is my choice for storage I get into baskets with open tops I have seen some great organizers that hold a lot with baskets in many colors. IF I cannot see what I need I tend to forget I have it.

Cool new turtle home! I think they look very happy, and will forget about that plastic palm tree. You are sooooo lucky to claim your own room!

Wow! The turtles went from apartment living to a mansion!!!

I'm jealous about your room. In our house, everyone has their own space except me. Unless you count the kitchen - and I don't!

Regarding colors - I love color. But, I think in a craft room where the look could be very busy, I'd go with something a littlel more neutral on the walls and add color with curtains, wall hangings, etc. You could paint your peg board a really fun color. I think keeping a neutral background will keep the room from looking cluttered or too busy.

Blessings!

The turtles look happy with their new abode. And you're happy with your new craft room. My question is: Are your girls happy to be bunking/bonding together?
Have fun decorating your getaway room!
