FIGHT THE FRUMP - I WAS IN SHOCK

fightfrumpbutton

This weekend I think I saw one of the most heinous fashion no no's everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Y'all I was in complete amazement. It was like a bad train wreck, you just could not stop looking.

We have talked about, our shoes, our toes, our nails, our makeup, the mom jeans that we should NOT have in our closets, our PJ's, our hair, our inner beauty, and so so many other things.

Ladies, there is one accessory that is with us a good deal of the time that we have not covered, and that is our......husbands.

Let me just paint you a horrible picture. As most of you know I was at a softball tournament this weekend. Now this is not a place to find the latest in run way fashion by any stretch of the imagination. Standard non frumpy attire for me consists of white t-shirt, khaki shorts, flip flop's, sunglasses, and maybe my pink nike ball hat.

While I was sitting there minding my own business, watching my daughter play, someone caught our eye.

This guy comes walking up to coach a softball practice in the following:

Athletic shorts like this but in lime green (he should be arrested by the fashion police for this alone)

green-shorts

A T-shirt with this saying on it in this color. While fine for a 12 year old girl, not so much for a 40 year old man, or any man for that matter.

SOFTBALLSAYING

Do I have to say anything here?

whiteshoesblacksocks

Now to go along with this wonderful outfit he was carrying this...

HOTPINK

I can only hope he was carrying it for his daughter.

To top it all off he was also carrying this.....

speed_06

So not only was he wearing this awful fashion train wreck, he was riding a motorcycle.

None of that should be allowed together people, none of it!

So it got me to thinking this very lingering question.

Where was his wife before he walked out of the house? I would not have let mine walk out that way. Nope, its not happening.

So ladies, don't let something like this cramp your style. You work hard to be non-frumpy, don't let it all go down the drain, because your guy can not dress himself.

To find out more Frump Fighting tips for yourself go visit Fussy, and remember white socks are NOT ok with dress shoes and slacks even if your man thinks no one will notice.

Oh and one more thing. If anyone has read the little post before this, just know that Jessie once again hijacked my blog. The nose piercing, booger catcher, looks like you have a big zit on your nose is not looking to promising for her right now. :)

Great post, Valerie! I would stop my hubby at the door... no way would he walk out like that. He's got a pretty good fashion sense I guess. :) ~Jill

Why both with a "skid lid" if you are not gonna protect the rest of Ya!wipe out with and speed and you skin will look like you had 3rd degree burns.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

HILL-AIR-EEEE-US!!!

My husband, thankfully, is one good-looking & well-dressed accessory. Tell me, what do you think about guys wearing capris? I'm not for it, but I know some wives that are.

Love the socks & sandals picture!

LOL I would not have let my hubby walk out the door like that but then again he wouldn't dare wear something like that. He has good fashion sense.

socks with sandals are just awful looking. Dark socks with tennis shoes and sandals are just as bad. Love that photo!

I have to say my college boy loved the socks and flipflops look! ack!
Guess it takes all kinds to make the world go around! LOL

Ha! My mom still lays out my Dad's clothes. At least he admits he is clueless! I'm lucky to have a pretty snazzy husband.
Those socks and sandals make me chuckle every time I look at them!

I see soo many guys dressed like that! I know my hubby doesn't dress as well as he could, but I have broken his habit of white socks with dress shoes, and ANY socks with sandals. (Now if I could only break the "t-shirt's are great for every occasion" thought process!)
Great post!

Oh, those men in black socks! I was rolling just picturing your lime-green clad 40-yr. old guy at the softball park. How funny!! I do have to say that I work on my man here and there to try to improve his wardrobe & for the most part he likes it. I buy most of his clothes & shoes & he likes that too.

P.S. Please do NOT let your daughter get a nosering....
I'm just sayin'..don't fall to peer pressure.

My hubby is actually a great dresser! But for some reason, he struggles with dressing our daughter. Don't understand that at all, unless all the pink confuses him!

Very good advice. My husband does pretty good but won't stop wearing the ball caps the dog chewed on despite his mother's protestations and mine. I think he does it just to drive us nuts. I need to go and throw them away when he is not looking.

Have a good one!

OMG, you are too funny! I'm glad you didn't go blind looking at that guy's crazy outfit.
Thank goodness, my husband always looks neat and clean--unless he's mowing the lawn, but that doesn't count. He doesn't wear a suit all the time, but he does wear dark-washed jeans and neat tops. T-shirts are for the gym. He once saw some old guy walking around in short, black socks and sandals and a shirt that was only buttoned at one button, and said, "if I ever get to be like that, kill me." (I won't kill him, but I won't ever let him get to be 'like that' either!) PS--Mike (dh) is in great shape for a guy who will be 54 this month--no beer belly! He works out or runs 6/7 days a week!

Husbands as accessories...I never thought of it that way, but I like it. My accessory needs some work, now.
P.S. Just say "no" to nose rings! That's my vote, anyway.

That was too funny, did he really need to carry the helmet? I doubt he was out riding, I think it was for looks

Made me giggle. Husbands as a fashion accessory. You are a nut!

OK, I have to admit that my Hubby wears socks with his Burkenstocks sometimes. It makes me giggle. And I love him anyway.

Thankfully my hubby's got more fashion sense than that guy...I probably would have had a hard time not laughing at him to his face - he needs a little direction :)

Uh-Oh. I have to say that I have never really been good at telling my husband what to wear. I'm lucky he has pretty good taste already and sometimes I'll toss something if I think he might be tempted.

There is a certain sweatshirt that he can;t part with that I have been eying. (eyeing? that looks weird? When did I lose my ability to spell?!

Thanks for visiting me!
