Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
I have a secret. Its one that I really haven't told anyone about until now. Well my family knows, at least my parents and siblings.
When I was little I wanted to be.............................
Donny Osmond
Ok, Ok you can stop laughing now! I don't know why I wanted to be Donny Osmond. I think it was the fact that I was the fifth kid, and the fourth girl. I guess I wanted to be another boy for my Dad. So I apparently insisted that I get my hair cut like Donny Osmond. Again I don't know why I chose Donny, maybe it was because he was hot stuff at the time, and hey I was like five or something.
You would think you could forget something like this ever happened in your life. But nooooooooooooooooooooooo, I have been remined of the fact that I wanted to be and look like Donny Osmond about three to four times a year since it happened.
"Hey Valarie do you remember the time you got your hair cut like Donny Osmond?"
"Yes how could I forget this is the bazillionth time you hav e reminded me of it!"
So here is a picture of me with my hair cut like Donny Osmond. I think there is a better one of me somewhere, but I could not find it. I hope you all enjoy this.
Oh and my sisters Lisa and Robin are in this picture with me. Aren't they cute!!
For more embarrassing pictures go over to We are THAT Family. Or if you like to look at Vintage Goodies go on over to the Apron Queen did you know she tries to put an Apron a day on her blog, yep she sure does.

One time my mom cut my hair so short that I felt like a boy. I was not happy about it. I lived the the Dorothy Hamil age, though.
Awwww. CUTE! I won't tell anyone about you and Donny if you won't tell that Mickey Mouse was my invisible friend. I would have screaming fits if someone sat next to me cause they were sitting on Mickey. Mm Hm. Weird Kid, I know.
Going over to We R tht Fmly now. Thanks for introducing her site to us. Funny Stuff!
Jen
I'm dying LAUGHING over here in Texas! Oh, my that is the best hair cut E-ver. Even better than my 'Fro. Seriously. Funny. Thank you. I will dream of Donnie all night.
Too funny! I loved Donny & Marie. For the longest time, as a kid, I thought they were married- not brothers & sisters.
Come see one of my kids "strangling the other".
For your daily dose of vintage goodness & a bit of silliness, stop by Confessions of an Apron Queen, the home of Vintage Thingies Thursdays.
You didn't look anything like him. :) It's not that bad. Cute picture!
Awh! You guys look so cute!
WOW-O!
Does HE know his baby was switched at birth!
GREAT PIX!
LOL!
Oh, I think you look very sweet with that little page boy cut!
Great photo!
You were still a cutie! I didn't want to BE Donnie Osmond... but I sure wanted to be his girlfriend.
Blessings! Dawn
Oh my!! Now I think I could understand your desire to be Marie, but Donny! I was laughing out loud, nearly woke the kids!
So you totally inspired me and I participated too. Monkey see, Monkey do! It was fun though.
We've got two more weeks of softball - Woo Hoo! She'll practice year round I believe...she loves it. But it is time to put this losing season to bed. We haven't won the first softball game. Hey! You are an undefeated season coach, why don't you come take over this team and whip them into shape?
Have a great Thursday!
Jen
I LOVE IT! And that just reminded me of another post I can do for a Thursday! Thanks! =)
Heee Heee Hee! Hawww Hawww Hawww!
It looks like somebody's butt cheeks are on my head. Hahahahaha! Surely we can find a more authentic Donny do in vault of family photos. I need to get busy on finding that REAL good one. What were you doing to Robin? You had your hand in her hair and she looks scared to death. I've never noticed that she had something in her hand. I wonder what it was.....
Lisa
you were adorable! Cute story! Thanks for sharing...and hey I thought Donny Osmond was hot stuff too, but was forbidden by an older cousin to like him cause she liked him ????
You know, I always wanted to be a boy, too, when I grew up. Not a specific boy, just not female. Ah well. It's amazing how girlish Donny looks in that picture, though.
You must be fairly close to the same age I am ~ my pictures from about that age are all reddish, too!
I think you're a cutie! I'll have to dig out a photo from 4th grade where I asked a hairstylist to make me look like Joanie from Happy Days.
It took several years for that perm to completely come out.
HA! I just popped over for the first time and was pulled in my Donny Osmond. When I was little I didn't want to BE Donny Osmond, I wanted to MARRY Donny Osmond.
Funny story, you did a great job of getting your hair right!
I wanted to be Anne of Green Gables. At one point, I begged to be allowed to color my hair red! Of course, I was never permitted to do so and (of course) went and did that very thing at eighteen. I looked ghastly. It was sad.
Nah, it was just funny.
Blessings!
Lacy
I just posted this sweet ode to my mother in law.....but I gotta say she's been trying to rock the Osmond/Hamil look for over 30 years!
Oh the years of therapy I could use from all the "hair" issues in my life! LOL your post made me laugh..thanks!
Luckily Donnie's hair was kind of girlie.
(Don't hate me. It is true though.)
I think you look adorable!
Oh, my gosh. ROFL I can't believe you just shared that. You're going to be teased unmercifully FOREVER!
I wanted to be Anne of Green Gables, Nancy Drew and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. lol
Too was too funny. It's amazing what everyone is pulling out of their old shoeboxes.
Feel free to pop by and say hello.
That haircut is just too awesome.
I played along today too, you'll have to go check my post out! :-)
Totally funny! He had a lot of hair, I'd take his hair now over what I have... its, like, balding on top (me, not him! ACK!)
funny, I had that haircut too and I had no ambition to be like Donny in any way.
That's rough-- I wouldn't expect to live that down for the rest of your life.
At least it should make you feel better that you didn't succeed in looking like a boy, right?
I was madly in love with Davey Jones of the Monkeys! LOL! Oh such silly girls we were! ;-) Thanks for sharing this adorable story and picture.
Hugs,
Kimmie
hi, there - I linked to you through Rhea. clever post. it reminds me of the time I decided to get my hair cut (that would be shaved) like Annie Lenox. Not so cute. I was way into hats that year.
